"I've always been involved with the BLM movement since my freshman year of college a couple years ago. Being black and living in America I've always been aware and conscious of my disadvantages and was only able to articulate it/understand it better as I got older. I think to have representation in photos of people that look like me was the bare minimum. I've always made sure my subjects were predominantly black and not only in images of "struggle" but images that show us being ourselves, having fun, simply existing. We are never shown as the protagonists so that's what my work is about and why BLM has always been so important to my life and art."
